Die Empty: The Sound of Becoming...

ree

For as long as I can recall, music and I have been intimately connected. I began to sing when I began to speak. I don't know a day without it. Born with not only the ability but the passion, I've never personally sought to contain it. Rather, I've always sought to expand myself as vastly as I could within it. Seeing and hearing myself in all manner of tempo, hues and styles.

Marrying a genre was never in the cards. Evolving and expanding was always the wave.

A wave I'm still riding. That said, it's with great joy that I present M.I.A., a soul-house track done in collaboration with Terry Hunter. Terry and I began working together years ago and our music is finally emerging for the world to hear. M.I.A. captures the ache of romantic disconnect, while celebrating the beauty of vulnerability. It's a "genre" or sound I've yet to tap into, yet comfortably settled into. And while it's been a great time, it's just the tip of the iceberg.

I felt it right to address my committed fans -- those who were with me in 2017 when I was bopping around coffee shop to coffee shop, brewery to bar with my acoustic guitar, a twist-out and lyrics from the heart. What you'll hear from me in the coming months will be new, different, uncharted territory in some ways but still raw, authentic and vulnerable. Defying genre and expectation, exploring every untapped source of inspiration within me until I can't anymore. I heard it said once, "Die empty." Release every note, song, lyric, feeling, as fiercely as you can. Leave it in the world to inspire, uplift, transform...that's my only plan of action. No more waiting, procrastinating, or second-guessing. Just being, freely and unapologetically.

I have no idea what happens after this. But for now, I'm all in. it's my hope you are too.

Sincerely, L
